Porta Potty Rental Questions and Answers
Every question Lockport-area renters ask us before they book, grouped by topic. Each answer starts with the fact you need.
Price and quotes
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for one day?
A standard porta potty for a one-day event starts at $175, including delivery the business day before and pickup the business day after. There is no cheaper hourly rate, because the two truck trips cost the same either way.
Is that price per day, per weekend or per month?
Event prices are a flat price for the whole event, Friday to Monday. Construction and monthly prices are per 28-day cycle. Your quote states which one applies.
Does the price include delivery and pickup?
Event prices include delivery and pickup. Monthly rentals add a one-time $50 delivery charge on the first invoice and no pickup fee.
What is the total, all in, with tax?
We read you the all-in total on the call, with sales tax, and text the same itemized quote. There is no fuel surcharge and no card fee to add later.
Do you add a fuel surcharge or card fee?
GearReady charges no fuel surcharge and no card processing fee. Every charge on your invoice was on your quote.
Is there a discount for renting two or more units?
Delivery is charged once per trip, so a second or third unit on the same truck costs less per unit. Ten or more units get a volume price.
Do churches, schools or nonprofits get a discount?
Churches and registered nonprofits get 10 percent off event rentals. Send a tax-exempt form and sales tax is removed.
Do you price match?
Send a written quote for the same unit, dates and service from a local company. If it is complete, we will try to match it.
Is a monthly rental cheaper than a one-week rental?
For anything longer than an event weekend, a 28-day rental is usually cheaper than a second event rental. You can end it early with no fee.
Is the quote good only for today?
A written quote is held for 7 days. Availability is not held until the booking is paid.
Why is the price higher than a quote I saw online?
Some online prices leave out delivery, pickup, fuel, card fees or tax. Compare all-in totals; ours lists every line.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Do I have to pay now to reserve a unit?
The first rental period is charged by card at booking to hold your date. There is no separate damage deposit.
Can I pay the driver in cash when it arrives?
Drivers do not collect payment. Pay by card on the call, by payment link, or by invoice on an approved contractor account.
Can someone else’s card pay for my rental?
Another person’s card can pay if they approve the charge by phone or through the payment link.
Do you offer invoicing or net terms for contractors?
Approved contractor accounts can pay by invoice with net-15 terms. New accounts start with a card on file.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel 24 hours or more before delivery for a full refund. Inside 24 hours, a $50 trip fee applies. Date changes are free up to 24 hours before delivery.
Can you hold a unit while I check with my board or boss?
We can pencil in a date for 24 hours while you get approval. It is confirmed once paid.
Will I get a receipt and an invoice?
Every booking gets an itemized invoice by email or text, and a paid receipt.
Delivery and scheduling
Can you deliver a porta potty today?
Same-day delivery is open across Niagara County and northern Erie County when you call by 11 a.m., Monday to Saturday.
How far in advance should I book?
Book standard units 3 to 7 days ahead, 2 to 3 weeks ahead for June weekends and holidays, and 4 to 8 weeks ahead for restroom trailers.
Do you deliver on Saturday or Sunday?
Delivery runs Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no Sunday delivery or pickup.
Why does my unit arrive Friday for a Saturday party?
Event units arrive the business day before so they are set, stocked and ready before guests arrive. The extra days cost nothing.
Can you guarantee a delivery time?
We give a delivery window, and the driver texts about 30 minutes ahead. For a set time, book the day before.
Do I have to be there for delivery?
You do not need to be there. Mark the spot, leave gates open, and the driver sends a photo when the unit is placed.
My site has no street address. Can you still deliver?
Send a dropped pin, GPS coordinates or a cross-street with a description. That works for farms, fields and new lots.
Are you a local company or a national broker?
GearReady is a local operator. Our trucks and units leave our Lockport yard, and the person who answers can see the schedule.
Does distance change the price?
Addresses within about 30 minutes of Lockport have no distance charge. Farther addresses add a distance line on the quote.
Units and features
What is the difference between standard, deluxe and a restroom trailer?
A standard unit has a toilet, urinal and sanitizer. A deluxe unit adds a fresh-water flush and a sink. A restroom trailer has real flush toilets, sinks, mirrors and lights, and needs water and power.
Does a standard porta potty have a urinal?
Our standard units have a urinal beside the toilet seat.
Does it come with toilet paper and hand sanitizer?
Every unit comes with two rolls of toilet paper and a hand-sanitizer dispenser. Deluxe units add soap and paper towels.
Is there a light inside?
The translucent roof lets in daylight. For night use, hang a battery lantern on the coat hook.
Do you have pink or gray units?
Blue and gray units are standard, and pink units are available for many events.
Do you have heated or air-conditioned units?
Restroom trailers have heat and air conditioning. Porta potties do not; winter units get de-icer in the tank.
Will the unit look clean and new?
Event units are kept separate from job site units, and every unit is washed and inspected before it leaves the yard. Ask for photos on the call.
How much space does a porta potty need?
A standard unit needs a level patch about 4 by 4 feet. An accessible unit needs about 6 by 6 feet. A 2-station trailer needs about 8 by 20 feet.
Accessible units
Is a handicap porta potty the same as an ADA porta potty?
People use both names for the larger wheelchair-accessible unit. Whether a setup meets the ADA depends on placement, path and count, not just the unit.
Does someone with a walker need an accessible unit?
A walker or cane user can usually manage a standard unit, but the accessible unit’s flat floor and grab bars are safer. Wheelchair users need the accessible unit.
Can a caregiver go in with someone?
The accessible unit has more than 16 square feet of floor, enough room for a helper.
How many accessible units does my event need?
The 2010 ADA Standards call for 5 percent of units in each cluster, and at least one, to be accessible.
Servicing and cleaning
How often is a porta potty cleaned?
Monthly and construction units are serviced weekly. Event units arrive clean and are not serviced during a one-day event.
What does a service visit include?
Pumping the tank, scrubbing the seat, urinal, walls and floor, fresh deodorizer, two rolls of toilet paper and a sanitizer refill.
Can I get service twice a week?
Extra service visits are $65 each, or you can set up a standing twice-weekly schedule for busy sites.
Can I reduce service to every other week?
For one or two workers, every-other-week service is possible at a lower rate. Larger crews need weekly service.
What if you cannot get in on service day?
If a gate is locked or the unit is blocked, we come back the next business day. Give us a gate code or contact to avoid misses.
Do you service porta potties we already own?
We can pump and clean customer-owned units on our route for a per-visit price. Call for a quote.
Do you pump RV holding tanks?
We do not pump RV tanks. Call a septic pumper for RV service.
Placement and access
Where is the best place to put a porta potty?
On level, firm ground within about 25 feet of pavement or gravel, away from windows, and with the door facing away from wind.
Can the truck drive on my lawn?
Our trucks stay off lawns. The crew carries the unit across grass to your spot.
Will a porta potty fit through my gate?
A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide, so it fits through a 4-foot gate. An accessible unit is 62 inches wide and needs a 6-foot gate.
Can I put it on the street in front of my house?
Street placement needs approval from the city, village or town, or a NYSDOT permit on a state route. Driveways and yards need none.
Can I move it myself?
Please do not move a unit with waste in it. Call us and we relocate it for a small charge.
Can I lock the unit?
We fit a padlock hasp at no charge for job sites and parks.
Pickup, damage and weather
Do I have to call for pickup?
Event units are picked up automatically the business day after. Monthly units stay until you call or text, one business day before the cycle ends.
What happens if the unit is tipped over or vandalized?
Call us. We clean up a tipped unit for a service charge. Damage from vandalism or misuse is billed at repair cost, never more than replacement.
What if strong wind knocks it over?
Units in open, windy spots are staked or strapped at no charge to prevent tipping.
Will a porta potty damage my driveway?
A standard unit weighs about 175 pounds empty and does not mark pavement. Pavers and soft asphalt can dent in summer heat; a plywood pad helps.
What happens if it rains on my event?
Rain does not affect the unit. Date changes are free up to 24 hours before delivery.
